Physiotherapy has been shown to be successful in facilitating the cleansing of the airways of the sputum, whether due to: chest infection or an acute episode of pneumonia; Chronic lung disease such as bronchiectasis or cystic fibrosis.
We assess your lungs by taking a history, examine your chest, and through other observations. Then we teach you the most suitable method to clean the mucus. This can usually occur through breathing techniques but can also be done using “assistants” or small pieces of equipment to facilitate the process.
